As the graphic artist for the University of Kentucky's Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments, Aaron Camenisch was responsible for the content creation and manipulation for the University of Kentucky's College of Engineering high resolution, multi-projection displays which were the backdrops in the University of Kentucky Opera's production of the classic Broadway play Porgy and Bess.
The displays consisted of two 24-foot-tall moveable screens with a total of 54 projectors, the giant backdrops vividly depicted historic Charleston and coastal South Carolina. In March of 2011, the Atlanta Opera also used the backdrops for their own production of Porgy and Bess. Both performances met with rave reviews and theater companies around the country have expressed their excitement about the creative avenues opened by this new technology.
